23-24 Reflection

A look back on the most successful year in Weston DECA history

01

Start of the Year

Our year started with over 130+ members joining at the activity fair, over a 50% increase from the prior school year. Preparation for Districts went very smoothly, as we also hosted several mock event sessions where members were judged and scored by E-Board members using competition-standard rubrics.

03

States

States was a blast, as Weston's members headed to the Hynes Convention Center for a three day conference. Weston had standout performances, in particular, with both school store sections being crowned State Champions. Members particularly had fun at the DECA Dance, exploring the convention center, and competing!

02

Districts

Districts in December was an awesome experience. Split up over two days, our entire chapter did incredibly well, with 49 students qualifying for States, a record high number. In preparation for States, we held our first official mock event day, with Weston school board member Jeff Lucas helping gather and organize parents for an incredible day.

04

ICDC

For ICDC, 11 Weston members headed to Anaheim, California for five days. We had two groups qualify for International Finals (top-20), with Keion Jalinous and Susan Shu later earning top-10 in the world in SBEF. Funding for ICDC partly came from our first ever Crumbl Cookie Fundraiser.
